Hey Cougars,

We hope you are enjoying the sunshine this week as much as we are! This week's newsletter includes what you need to know about mission deferment, registering for classes while you are gone, requesting a leave of absence, and more.
Mission Deferment

After you receive your mission call and before you leave on your mission, you will need to defer for the semesters you are gone for. BYU students who want to defer their enrollment while serving a mission must complete the online missionary deferment.

Use the Departing Missionary Checklist if you are preparing to defer, or see the Returning Missionary Checklist for information about coming back to BYU after your mission.
Leave of Absence

A leave of absence is when a day continuing student does not attend one major semester (fall or winter), but returns the following major semester.

If you are planning on being away from school for one semester after enrolling at BYU, visit the Leave of Absence Checklist for more information.
Guest Access
Access to Your Account

Guest Access allows you to give another person access to your BYU account, such as your parents. They must have a NetID to be granted access to your account. If they don't have a NetID they can create one here.

You have the option to choose what access areas you give them access to. BYU will not discuss your account or records with your parent, spouse or other third party without Guest Access. Click here for more information. Learn about the different access areas below:
